Real ruby fading to pink/clear at rim. Classic, sweet nose of rose, pure red fruit and tanned leather. Mature palate that shows nice earthiness to go with the fruit on the front end. Finishes a bit short with some tannin on the back. Holding on nicely but not for much longer. I like this a lot even though the wine itself is not great. (89)

this is "old Ceretto" meaning the good years. Bottle, fill and cork all good. Cork was wet up to the top, but sound. Very traditonal style needing at least a few hours in the decanter to really fill out. Lots of black licorice, cherry, smoke etc.. Big tannins, fine wine for lovers of the old days.

(note from memory) In spite of concerns about seepage, this wine was a beauty. Nose was almost immediately expressive--floral, fruity and meaty. The finish was long, with pleasantly chalky tannins. We consumed over about an hour, and the wine seemed to grow more vivid throughout. A real joy to drink, and a bargain on auction.

Browning. Leather, cedar, dried cherries on nose. Big structured wine, but nice balance. Long. Quite nice.

A bit light, but with good fruit. Tasted blind and mis-identified by most as Burgundy.
