One of the best wines from one of the great wine night of my life. Lively and vibrant. hints of mushroom and forest floor well integrated with raspberry and cherry notes.

Old Wine Weekend with Friends-German, Burgundy, Bonus Wines; 1/14/2017-1/15/2017: Amazing even ruby. Pungent brett that did not take over, blackberry nose. Light to medium weight, rustic, lots of tannin left, deep stony core, and some fresh black cherry. This became more aromatic with air. Typical, stubborn Pommard, which believe it or not is still tight and not fully expressed. Excellent, very traditional, and so freakishly young and virile that the thought definitely crossed our minds about whether this could have been doctored during its vinification to provide a little more punch, but that is pure speculation.

50th Birthday Dinner (Bern's Steakhouse - Tampa, FL): Lovely nose of red fruit with a little sweetness. On the palate, more body than expected (medium minus) perhaps demonstrated by the 13.5% alc level. Mostly dark cherry fruit with nice balance and the elegance and complexity that comes from aging while still showing some nice fruit, though started to lose its stuff after 30-45 minutes. All in all a very surprising experience and held its own against all other wines from the rest of the evening.

From memory: Floral, red fruits, delicate, still young (stored at <50 degrees since released). Lovely.
