Nose loaded with plum, spice, vanilla, with a sweet meatiness hanging about; palate was also pleasant as hell: plum, vanilla, and smoked-mocha cherries

Nose is still loaded with plum, black cherry, mocha, and smoked meat (which is awesome to find in Zin); flavours are very intense with white pepper, spiced plum, black cherry and a touch of vanilla.

I believe I'm drinking this a year or two late, because there's just not much there, like the empty field the next morning after the carnival left. The color seems true, low-medium tannin, a hint of bouquet, and a brief, antiseptic finish. I remember drinking this Zin years ago...don't think it was much better. Sorry, but the search continues.

Zin used to be and still is one of my favs, however I believe I am becoming more particular about what Zin I am drinking. Seven is one of the ins I am beginning to shy away from, jammy upfront, quickly into spice with little in the way of finish. While this is not a bad Zin, it is an everyday Zin and lacks the depth and character of some of the better made Zins on the market. While I wouldn't not drink a glass if offered, I will pass next time on buying.

prunes and an earth finish. Other vintages have been better.
