SLDS (Rocket Restaurant - Chatswood): Colour was deep with slight bricking only. Not much fruit left. Palate was medium bodied and tight. Maybe hints of spice. Beetroot and stewed flavours. Tired. ?Scalped. Not rated.
Pretty nose of ripe raspberry, strawberry, as well as minerals, and a touch of tea and Asian spcies. This is layered and soft, but it stiffens some with air, showing red berries, licorice, and a persistent finish. Fresh and vibrant, and just probably beginning to show its stuff (but then, I had it from magnum, so maybe the development was slow here).
Bricking towards amber on the rim. Moving towards secondary aromas albeit still fresh and vibrant with strawberries, mincemeat, black pepper. Lively body, medium weight, cherries, more strawberries. Tannins very much present through the finish. Without the firmer tannins and pepper, this is an elegantly styled burgundy that holds ones interest nicely. A good prelude to the better years that follow.

(Lambrays Clos des Lambrays) There's a lovely width of powdery red cherry fruit and faint almond - it smells wonderful. Likewise in the mouth, a width of lovely flavours. The tannin certainly needs another 3-5 years, also the acidity has some lift. Interesting but understated length. Far from perfect but wonderful personality.
