wonderful nose, bit of iron/minerality - raised expectations for the flavor, which was a bit thin - contrast probably lowered the score a bit - eminently drinkable.

PnP with assorted cheeses. Dark fruit and cassis come out of the box and hit you on the attack. soft and lush, mid-palate drops the ball a bit. needs a bit more structure and "strength" to carry it to the next step. Was a little afraid when I bought this that the 04 vintage, which in general in Napa is perhaps a bit fleshy, flabby to start with might be on the downside of the hill. Having never had it previously, no baseline but I think it may be the case. Still pretty good, but no real wow, and this is usually my flavor profile. Looks like it crested the hill and though not far from its top is on the downside of its career. might buy again to drink in short order, smoke em if you got em

Very lean with dark ripe berries and soft tannins. Not representative of Spring Mountain, but still a very nice bottle at the price point.

Only Ok, a little thin on the finish. Paled in comparison to the 04 Turnbull.
