Similar to how Rousseau 99s show, ie very expressive and open. Drank 98 side by side and out of the gate, the 98 was slutty and 99 showed more reserved. Didn't take long before the 99 bouquet exploded and overtook 98 in every way. Both 98 and 99 are delicious but 99 is outstanding now and seems to have exponentially longer run way in the cellar than 98. I'm gonna drink up my 98s in the next few years.

Served to be blind. The nose was beautiful with flowers, perfume, spice and berries. Palate had very good grip yet the fruit was sweet and precise. So charming. I did not pick it up as a Mortet as it was so floral and pretty. Amazing.

Consistent with previous note. Surpassed the 98 Rousseau by miles in blind tonight. Stemmy and seductive on the nose. Palate was liquid silk and elegant.

Another amazing Mortet. Shared a lot of similarities with the 02 lavaux st jacques tonight on the nose and palate. Open for biz. Juicy and delicate with impeccable balance.

(Domaine Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St. Jacques) Dark cherry red color; sous bois, earthy, slightly stemmy nose with a touch of brett; tasty, tart red fruit, mineral palate, a little tight yet; medium finish

tasted blind, guessed 2009 Vosne 1er
copious toasty spice, orange oil, dried flowers, vanilla, cedar, pepper, a little cherry jam, very oaky but not unpleasant
structured and spicy on the palate, a little chunky, very spicy finish
