  • Just beautiful now. Based on notes, i popped and poured. Was lovely from the get go, rich ripe dark fruit, perfect balance, great length. Beautiful. Continued to evolve over a couple of hours. Wonderful wine.

  • Just great on PNP. So fresh with layered red fruit and a complex nose.

Do not decant. I opened it and it was singing out of the gate. Tightened up with air. Overall really good.

  • Wow, this one is in great shape. Should not believe this was 17 years old. Nice color, not significantly lighter than 2018. The only indicator of age is that the yarn fades out at the edges. Beyond that, this could easily have been a 24 or 36 month old wine. On the scent, it is much the same as in 2018, warm fruit, perhaps with the addition of a little pencil sharpener (without the lead) that indicates age. Again, I would say that this is not the most complicated wine, but gives great pleasure to the fruit and the structure it gives. This one collapsed on day 2.

  • Second best Clos de Ducs at today's tasting, behind only '99 D'Angerville. Notably darker fruit to the red fruit of all the D'Angerville wines. This was sultry, and easy to drink (not something I find myself often saying about '05 reds). I suspect this is about a decade from starting its peak phase, but it's very good today.
