Popped and poured. It became clear to me pretty quickly this would have benefited from a decant as it was quite tight and restrained. Black cherry, violets, herbs and spice. Medium bodied with some tannin still evident. Plenty of life left.
Two days later out the fridge it’s better. More open with lots of cherry liqueur, tannins better integrated, still a little four square but pretty delicious. Plenty of life still. Upgraded a point.

i thought I would check on a 2005 Grivot village Vosne, at 16 years old it was worth a try I said to myself. It’s a lovely jewel like colour and medium body, after 2 hours decanted the nose is showing just a hint of fruit and Vosne spice, but you have to work pretty hard to get that. The palate still seems somewhat shut down, there’s still plenty of tannin and not a lot of fruit, and it could be drying out based on this bottle. It’s hard to know if this will finally open up and shine, I’ve a couple of bottles left and I think I will leave the next until It’s 20th birthday or there abouts. its not a lot of fun tonight to be honest

Popped and poured. Right in the sweet spot in terms of drinking window. Medium bodied, transparent, red fruited, good acidity but also a fair amount of punch indicating a long life ahead. Red cherries, herbs and spices. Straight forward, classic, well executed Vosne romanee in prime time.

Consistent with community notes. This is singing now. At peak I think. Give it just a little air and enjoy. Top notch village wine.
