Given the TNs here I wasn’t sure what to expect. Opened and drunk an hour later. Bright red fruit, very fresh, amazing grip. On the younger side but giving a lot on all fronts. Bottle purchased in NYC.

Nick's 64 Goodge Street (Mainly) Burg Dinner (64 Goodge St): Quite developed appearance, medium garnet. This was initially a touch balsamic - it blew off a touch but never went entirely, quite rich with soil notes, underlying red and black berry fruit, touch of Christmas cake. Medium/full on the palate, quite rich, soft tannins, meaty dark fruit, not overly sophisticated in fact a touch “muddy” fresh acids, good length harmonious finish. A bit disappointing really given the vineyard.

Nick's Burgundy evening at 64 Goodge Street: Dark red. Practically unrecogniseable to me as Pinot Noir, very perplexing, and just not what I understand to be Burgudian. I actually prefer lighter, younger, cheaper (!) red burgundy than power houses like this! Like the Esmonin this also has years to go, and I wonder if whether with time the sense of place will come out. For now it is dense, dark and quite unyielding, with red plum, dark cherry and green pepper. Confusing, and even though my bottle I didn't overly enjoy this even though it is clearly a good wine. This was the last and really I wish I could remember what the other five were like, pure folly but I am pretty sure I would have drunk them much younger.

Nick A's 64 Goodge Street Burgundy Dinner (64 Goodge Street, London): If served blind I might have been in Italy with this one; some profound liquorice notes, a little sweet cinnamon follows with a couple of ppm of soy and with air some plummy red fruits. Palate is youthful with a few high toned notes. Sense this is in a bit of an awkward spot and the glassware not helping.

Pas de défaut mais presque muet. Dommage.
En sommeil peut-être ???
