First time having this and quite a rollercoaster experience. Very deep amber in the glass - were we having aged sauternes a little early? On the nose there is sweet apple, marzipan, baking spice. Palate initially is very short - a shot of something nice then a curt fino-esque nutty finish that throws this all off. However with time in the glass the attack lengthens to the mid palate and a a finish starts to emerge. Not quite my cup of tea but a fascinating ride.

Always just love these. It's like a waxy honeycomb. Very bright tasting. Very good. A real mouthful. Went very nicely with some Malay curry puffs. Nice balance to some of the spice and the tongue coating was nice as well.

A Medlar Dinner: Very full old gold to almost a copper-hued orange. Gorgeous nose of apricot kernels and furniture varnish. Bright and lovely on the palate with more apricot and a touch of almond blossom. Just dips a bit texturally on the finish with the interest being front-loaded, but that's being picky. Super. ****1/2

Well I probably should have waited a few more years. This was not all that well liked, and in fact, wasn't even finished until the second day. Big and waxy, showing age but still lively. I drank it but should have held it for the supposed long term turnaround.
