dark coleur, still in the fruity phase, cassis dominates, dark cherries, pencil, cedar, vibrant acidity, tannins present and silky, long finish, drank directly from the opened bottle, but would profit from 1-2 h decantation, for me at his top, will be alive at least for 7-10 years, for me more like a Margaux than Pauillac
drank at my daughters 21st birthday dinner, purchased this bottle for this moment many years ago... a lovely bottle of wine to go with a joyous occasion. i wish i could rate this with a number but that would be impossible to do...the wine was but an accompaniment to a wonderful evening shared with my first born and the rest of my wonderful family.... here is where wine is not a number but an experience shared... perhaps the way it should be after all....
perfect level and cork, colour shows some age, slight brown at rim, fine elegant, classy, fruity nose, perfect balance and elegance on the palate, not the sweetness and power of a great year, slight vegetal hints but really very classy and impressive for a lesser year, thoroughly enjoyed by all at the table
Barnyard, Bordeaux earth, cedar and red fruit on the nose in AOC-typical fashion. Palate sports a wine that is extra on the acids, but mature, generous and formidably made in a rather challenging year. The tannic back-bone gave it poise and the sumi-ink aromas on the finish made us smile. I can easily imagine that this must be one of the best left bankers of this unheralded vintage. The btl we had was in excellent condition, showing potential for further development and good keeping. Struck by a cold, at La Rochelle in Omotesando (Tokyo).
