where on earth did this come from? total surprise, given the $10 price tag... full, expressive tannic structure with nice layered black cherry, earth, leather and cinnamon... had with bbq'd filet mignon, red beans and sauteed drunken mushrooms... and was a winner... some $40 bottles from the u.s. don't drink nearly as good

Smooth, fruity, with a hint of mineral. Nice acidity, balanced by smooth tannins. You'll want to either decant or pour carefully, as there is a lot of sediment in this one.

OK, considering the price and vintage.

Nice minerality, good flavors of black cherry, earth and a touch of blueberry. Tons of sediment. Excellent - 89 points.

Spice, cherry kirsch. Simple finish. Tastes more like a Grenache based Rhone wine than a Bordeaux.
