Lot of raw material here. Has some heft although I can see the references to some limestone buried in the wine. For me, what more shows now is passion fruit, peach, spicy fennel and a texture that reminds me some of an oily/glycerine feel. The texture reference I am making is more about the concentration and weight. This is an intense wine.
A private dinner (Hotel Les Avisés (Jacques Selosse), Avize, France): Cantaloupe melon and hazelnut on the nose, noticeable pyrazines; silky and seamless palate, piercing kimmeridgien minerality, lime and apple, quite weighty (14% ABV) and creamy but elegant and fresh, finishes with white pepper, unripe pear, gooseberry and a hint of almond, excellent length. A very distinctive style, quite fascinating actually.

This was served blind in a night where we tasted 18 Pinot Noirs from Europe (anywhere but Burgundy). The first thing that we all noticed was this intense almost singular note of fresh peaches. It was captivating, and complex, but also difficult to put to a place or grape varietal. Initially I was thinking Viognier, but the acidity was too high. Final guess, was that it was a wine I had never tasted before and so I landed on Vatan or Chave Hermitage blanc. It was a lucky guess, but I have to say that I will certainly be seeking out this wine should I ever find it someplace with a reasonable price.

It's far riper and bigger than my experience with 2010.
