Complex and rich, with bitter chocolate notes over plum and blackberry. Stood up to a pasta in beet pesto, echoing the iron, blood and earth in the beets.

A little disappointing given the hype and fame (and $$) that surrounds this winery. Inky dark and full of spicy fruit but lacked any particular depth. Certainly not a bad or poorly made wine, but rather one that failed to deliver great joy. Solid.

I've enjoyed Turley Zins for year but now I know why so many people rave about them aged. Boy was this a head turner with loads of fresh earth mineral, veggies, umami, sweet blue and red fruits, gravel, chalk and pepper. The best petit syrah i've ever had hands down.

Until yesterday I did not know Petite Sirah could be so well made and delicious. Today I do! Tasted doubled blind and though the deep crimson with purple hues color proved problematic, I could not get away from guessing New World Syrah. On the second day there are noticeable notes of Napa terroir, lots of herb and olive. Interesting. Thank you ES!

Tannic crunch, monolithic, as PS is prone to deliver. Time has improved it to something above an expensive, unidimensional disappointment.
