  • Decanted for an hour. Surprisingly drinkable. Not overtly oaky, as I had feared it might be.

A lot of sweet plums - almost too sweet for me. But over the next hour or so it mellowed out (or maybe my palette adjusted) and I would have rated it a point higher at 94

  • Old World vs New World: Merlot & Cab Sauv on Blueback Drive (Vancouver Island): One of four Cabernet Sauvignon or CS-dominant blends in a blind tasting of old world vs new world. Inviting nose of maturing fruits. Great balance of alcohol, tannin and acid. Lush ripe fruit suspended beautifully in the centre from the bouquet to the palate to the finish. Very good depth and concentration. Most preferred Cab of its flight (6/12 tasters). Many guessed New World Napa due to its more modern style. Note: wine was double-decanted approximately 1hr prior to tasting.

  • 60% CS, 20% M and 20% CF.

Dark fruits on the nose, very approachable for such a youthful wine. Full bodied, cherries, cocoa. A big wine, very nice finish, but not a lot of depth or structure to it. While it’s a delicious wine, and will likely improve with time - it lacks that special something to warrant its price IMHO.

  • I wanted to try this one after having tasted the wine when it was just released. At that time the wine tasted like sweet plums. Now three years later I had to try it again. The wine is drinking very well currently, the sweet plum notes have disappeared. The color is ruby red and the nose shows blueberries some sweet spices and leather notes. I decanted the wine and waited for around 1,5 hours. By then it was really starting to show off. The wine is very smooth with lots of flavour and a nice long finish. If you like your wine show fruit I think it’s an excellent time to drink it. It’s a great wine!

  • Shared this with Sean on a PnP and he was immediately drawn to it, describing as gorgeous and strong chocolate impressions. Tasted like an Italian Cab/Bordeaux, tbh. Very good QPR on a beautiful wine.
