  • First night, showing some fiery Savigny gout de terroir, together with more body than in younger bottles, clearly defined acidity, and substantial tannins. Just when you think your getting a hint of fruit, a surprisingly thick cloud of tannin rolls in and covers everything up. On the second day, the wine tasted better-integrated, with more fruit coming in behind the tannins. A good wine, worth opening to check in, but probably would benefit from another year or three.

  • Opening up about an hour after uncorking the bottle, plenty of pleasantly drying, rubby tannins, sound pinot fruit, acidity not to be missed; in all, a very good bottle with nice intensity and cut, though could use perhaps a titch more fruit to balance perfectly. But no complaints at this level. Will the tannins mellow, or will the wine begin to dry out? Drink or hold.

  • Despite several hours of air, this bottle was shut down hard. Clearly a more elegant and subtle SlB, but not very expressive on this night. Not much on the nose, except maybe a bit of spice and fruit. On the palate, this was a bright ball of minerally fruit. No signs of any aging on this bottle, everything was very primary and fruit centric. There was plenty of acidity and a more elegant tannic structure than I expected. Based on this bottle, there is still plenty of life ahead and I'm holding my remaining bottles for quite a while.

  • With three-hour decant: rich, dusty aromas of blackcurrant and cherry. Dust conveys to the palate pleasantly, with some softish fruit and clearly defined, fiery gout de terroir. Ample fine tannin structure and acidity; mild sense of minerality. This wine is very good, in a restrained way. As described in the previous note, fresh with plenty of energy and life in it yet. Would like to see it acquire a touch more body and breadth as it continues to age.

  • Powerful aromas of ripe, dark blackberry fruit, pencil lead, Darjeeling tea. Great energy and focus on the palate. Still primary and intensely fresh, structure is up front. Mineral driven lengthy finish. This remains gorgeous and is still developing with many years ahead.
