Decanted for 90 minutes but delicious right out of the bottle. Those drinking windows need to be adjusted. This wine tasted young. Gobs of ripe cassis, tobacco, mint. still plenty of backbone. Served with a big T Bone and the wine did a great job cutting through the fat and protein. Drink or hold. Very Good.
14.4% alcohol. Dark red color. Pretty nose of currant, black berries, graphite, and earth. In the mouth, vibrant and focused, with lovely balance and a powerful-yet-refined mouth feel. Fruit-forward and delicious in the mouth, with black currant, tobacco, graphite, and earth. Bright acidity still and a bit of tannic grip on the back end still. This is youthful and powering along. A great Napa effort. A-/A

(Heitz Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)) Already showing some maturity on the nose - this and some loss of colour suggest the wine has spent too much time in oak. Good texture - not quite creamy - on the palate, with maturing Cabernet fruit to match that found on the nose. Tannins are integrating nicely, but still show on the finish. Strives for elegance but doesn't quite get there. Good effort though.
