Beautiful showing from this wine. Dark and intense with tons of depth and power even at this age. I had high expectations going into this wine and all of them were met. While the wine is certainly weighty as one would expect for the varietal, the age helped level out some of the richness. Showing well now, but could easily go for another 5-7 years.
The wine looks inky colored. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis), violet, espresso and bark. The body is full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

Incredibly dark, aromatic, and so dense with material that it gave a sense of a syrupy viscosity. Notes of darkest red fruits, forest floor, and yes, eucalyptus. The intensity of fruit and flavor balanced with still present acidity, just enough to provide a long, long lasting taste, the tip of the tongue still reverberating long after the last had been swallowed.
Rated +3 on a scale of -1 to +3. A special treat.

Last bottle and it gained strength overnight, so if you have a well stored bottle, give it plenty of air. Alluring fruit compote nose. Dark rich fruits. Mostly soft tannins but with a bit of an edge.

Oddly one dimensional for a wine that was so nuanced in the past. The tangle of interest just wasn't in this bottle, but it didn't show an obvious bottle flaw. I wonder now if it competed with something on our palate earlier.
