Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Alpharetta, GA): Dark crimson core, clarity, brighter lighter rim; nutty nose, cedar, vanilla still strong, sour bois, mushroom, cherry and wilted roses in back; strong acid, firm, sour cherry, good tension, cherry liqueur, plum almost cranberry, great mid, fairly expansive, more sour fruit on the palate with a certain sweetness; fairly awkward now, age longer or give this plenty of air.

Very youthful and tightly wound. Black cherry color. Pretty nose of black cherry, red cherry, wood spice, and an earthy note. The palate is where this wine is really clamped down. Pretty cherry fruit, but everything is masked by acidity, minerals, and tannins in the middle palate and finish. B+

(Potel Nicolas Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St.Jacques) Medium-plus colour. The nose is similar to the village gevrey - if anything tighter, more understated and consistent. Very intense; this is hard to keep in your mouth. Super acidity dovetails with plenty of tannin. Despite the concentration the personality is rather cool, clean, mineral and understated.

Forward and giving for an 05 but loosely-knitted on the mid-palate in the context of the vintage.
