Classic but clear medium dark ruby color. Complex and smooth notes of the world here...earth, low level spices, somewhere in there beautiful dark fruits. Finishes with a brightness...a welcome one! This is at the top of red burgundies I've enjoyed. Drinking extremely well now.
One of 5 young burgs sampled from the cellar. The easy winner (from 2 2002 NSGs, and a 2005 St Aubin 1er Cru and 2005 Vosne-Romanee VV villages). Not ready, but already a lovely bottle. Slightly diffuse roseate colour lightening at rim. Grown-up nose of roses and other garden flowers. Lovely palate of complex fruits and flowers, with gentle but persistent acidity, and very good length. Classy. Revisit in 18 months.
Clearer dirty red than other red burgundies, if that's possible. This bottle showed subdued and extremely well-balanced fruit, not so much spice or minerality (although notes of both are present). A very, very nice juice.
Decanted and consumed over about four hours. Aromatic meaty, Gevrey nose. Nice fruit on the palate but midpalate and finish were a bit flabby for my taste. Needed just a bit more acid, focus, and minerality. Last half glass was the best and certainly more promising. My wife loved this wine. I prefer the Chambolles from G-P in 2005 to the GCs. Maybe just a matter of preference.
