  • Corked. There was enough of the palate revealed to highlight beautiful texture and structure of what should have been a terrific wine. A bad night for cork - 3 of 4 wines had cork related faults !

  • Thai at Dural: Graphite, earth, cherry, savoury spice and meatiness. Excellent texture and more of those savoury fruits and spice that were on the nose. Good tannin and flow. Still has brightness to it and I think it'll develop further over 6-7 years.

  • Opaque dark garnet.
Funky animality on the slightly lifted nose with dark cherry and cassis fruit, charcoal, herbs, florals, mushrooms, leather and coffee.
Fullbodied and meaty palate with refreshingly bright acidity, dense fruit and profound tannins. Animality, salt liquorice, vegetables, charcoal and leather. A good length refreshing finish with notes of peach kernel, gunpowder and stone dust.
Young and a bit unbalanced at the moment, but the potential sure is there.

  • Cerretalto Vertical Tasting (Restaurant 1.TH (CPH)): Usually, I do not touch Brunellos from this vintage but based on this wine I will have to revise that statement :-)
Intense and full-bodied nose with some wet hay and classic dark cherry. Additionally, I did find some petroleum but nothing to disturb the overall impression.
Very fresh and excellent balance. A still very young Brunello with an excellent potential.

  • Still a bit tannic on initial opening, I poured this into a decanter and this wine evolved with power over the evening. Classic Sangiovese cherry notes with some fresh forest floor on the nose. My wife cooked a wonderful pan-roasted veal chop dish and this wine paired perfectly. She gave the wine an A+ as it was a real treat. Could easily last another 5 years so I may pick up another bottle or two.
