Very tight initially, with hidden fruit, this was best after about 60 minutes in the decanter, revealing aromas of mint and eucalyptus and flavors of sweet mint and thyme. Tannins softened after about 90 minutes from opening. Impressively vibrant for its age, albeit not overly complex. Great with food. 88-90
Glad I reloaded on these. Beautiful and vibrant. Prominent red fruit and tobacco, very gratifying and delicious now but room to further evolve. Still, hard to resist, and my 5 remaining bottles won't likely see 2015.
From memory. This Chianti tastes as labeled, a mature Riserva, perhaps a bit in the modern style, toned down by the years. We enjoyed it with roast sirloin and then chicken parmesan. If I were not a fan of well-aged red wines, I probably would not have been so impressed; nonetheless, I am expecting to enjoy the balance of our bottles.
