This was pretty reassuring for me. With our local retailer direct importing several Camus wines between ‘99 vintage and ‘03, I tried to sort through them and buy what I found to be the best of them as they can be tremendous values if you sort through them prudently. Shared this one with Xavier94 and I concur with his great note.

(out of 750ml) Wow, this very complete with an array of classic Burgundy notes taking form; anise-infused red cherry and raspberry coulis/sauce with pine-laden forest floor scents, rose garden and cinnamon spice. Rich and spicy with integrated tannin, revealing a spicy beef broth/umami textural component that really takes this to Grand Cru level performance. Terrific layering/complexity on this bottle and while still developing, of course, this is compelling stuff!

(tasted from Magnum/1.5L) This is a riper, more primary fruit nose compared to the '03 Latricieres from Camus and while the fruit is more lush, forward and smoother in the mouth, the aromatics are tighter and less interesting than the Latricieres (for me). Lots of cooked cherries and currants celery salt/root vegetable nuances and truffle come forth with the leading fruit. This particular bottle should age quite a bit yet as there is plenty of midpalate sap that I don't always find with these wines. I wish the aromas were more developed/layered. Good showing.

This bottle was excellent but showed heavier and just slightest bit more of the hot vintage on display. 92+

Mature red burgundy nose with farmyards and manure. Palate was light, and no tannin left. Past the prime.
