The previous taster mentioned "light", I will say "quiet". Good mature hermitage that should be drunk now based on the bottle I had. We had most of the bottle for lunch and left 1-2 glasses for the evening. By then, the wine had turned bitter and I threw it down the sink

Very well knit dried fruitcake, ground coffee, raw meat, black cherry, toast. My husband said it was ‘“light”, which I don’t agree with but I see what he means - not a blockbuster, rather restrained. Plenty of life in it.

This certainly has all the range of aroma and flavour that one associates with middle-aged Hermitage - raw meat, salt and pepper, dark fruits, emerging saddle leather and spiced dried fruit. It's very well balanced but was somewhat reticent - you need to work hard to identify and appreciate all the aromas. Frankly if I was tasting this blind I might not have given it the reverence that the "Hermitage" label promises. Nevertheless a fine glass of wine. Tasted beside a much more modest 2009 Madiran, that wine was the one that grabbed the attention.

Great Hermitage, but very young. The Hermitages' aging capacity is impressive. I think they should not be drunk until they are 20 years old. The hard part is waiting

(Yann Chave Hermitage) Deep, intense garnet color. Fruity nose of plum, redcurrant, and dark cherry, backed by cedar, tobacco, and pepper. Young tannins balanced by acidity, stony minerality, and juicy blackberry fruit on the palate. Promising finish for a young, easy-drinking wine. Terroir: Hermitage

Quite a lot of tertiary notes for a 15 years old Hermitage. All in all very nice. Drink now or within the next 5-8 years.
