No doubt this is getting long in the tooth but well worth taking a look. Pale yellow gold in colour, completely belying its 19 years of age. Nose shows must and apricot (low intensity), but a clearly mandarised cooked fruit aroma comes through as well. Palate shows quite well defined gewurzt fruits but there it a bitter, harder edge present that can sometimes be found in aged riesling. Nothing like the 1985, for instance, but still shows very good grace for nearly 2 decades old.

From A 375ML bottle. Beautiful wine with hints of honey, herbs and a floral note that reminds me of wisteris. Gorgeous nose from the start, it continued to open over 2+ hours gaining complexity as it went. Light and transparent, the wine has held up amazingly well. Maybe I DO like Alsatian Gewurztraminer...

Delicate, floral nose like a spring day rolling in a meadow, whiff of honey tones. Subtle and light footed palate. You have to focus but you find balanced, honeyed, mineral lacy palate. Given how light bodied this wine is, the finish is absolutely amazingly long and perfumed. This is an exquisite wine that belies the notion that Gewurz doesn't age, unless you demand fruit.
Wine sourced directly from Trimbach cellars in 2004. It took approximate 90 minutes to fully open up.
