Dark purple color. This is everything I like about South African wine. Smoky, peppery and slightly green on the nose with some dark blackberries and cassis coming through. Similar flavors on the palate with dark fruit, black licorice and charred oak and a nice balance of acid and tannin. This wine is in a good place right now and is probably drinking at or near its peak, at least for me.

(DE TOREN FUSION V) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-really dark chocolate, light hints of dirty stinky wet leaves; TASTE-this is AWESOME!!, enormity of upfront tannin structure, wet rock & mud, hints of chocolate, licorice & cedar bark, very Old World, earthy, hint of pine cone, pine needles, black pepper, red currants & hint of Pomegranate, explosion of excitement, reminds me of $50-70 Bordeaux, This is a Great Effort!! ; WS-91; GV-92
