Tasted by Tel007 on 4/9/2009: Wow, this is pure elixir of grenache! I agree with Parker about aging these, who knows? there is little tannin right now so I would drink these sooner rather than later but what a wine! (1837 views)
Tasted by vinamok on 1/6/2009 & rated 95 points: opened the 1 january. why don´t start the year with something good? quite different then the last time. getting better with 1½ hour in the decanter end even better on day 2. starting quite rubish and not so focused. the fruit is coming and the piece of magic from the last time just shows up a little bit. a disapointment but in high class. will wait to open the next one.  Tasted by Torsten Freund on 12/29/2008 & rated 98 points: Decanted 4 hours. Two bottles. Drunk with pheasant simmered with apples and celery root; cinnamon, cardamom and laurel.
Smell: Intense of liqourice and cherries, maybe some garrigues.
Taste: Again, liqourice and cherries. Some blood and a lovely sweetness.
Finish: Long (about 20 seconds). Perfect tannins. Leaves the entire mouth satisfied.
Effect on me: Energizing and relaxing. Not sexy, not overwhelming. Simply left me grateful, not begging for more, just satisfied.
Potential: Why wait? I wouldn't want to lose any of the fruit and the perfect tannin bite. More esters, complexity and a longer finish probably wouldn't harm. But why risk it?
This is a very great wine and at the same time very easy to drink. (My "normal" family loved it - the best wine my dad had ever had).
This is not a complex wine, it's just ... pure. (2284 views)
Tasted by silton on 9/7/2008 & rated 95 points: I didn't take notes on day 1, but it was spectacular out of the bottle, a kirschy core being complemented by raspberry, rhurbarb, sage, and a little earth, just spectacular fruit, effusive and with a very long finish. On day 2 it started closing down although still pretty wonderful. (2601 views)

Tasted by MTC on 7/21/2008 & rated 98 points: Not your typically stylied varieties of Chateauneuf's. Very smooth. Light dark fruits. Not spicy. Nicely integrated tannins. (2934 views)

Tasted by Finare Vinare on 4/18/2008 & rated 95 points: Pretty dark, yet clear, velvet red with some blue reflexions. The open nose comes like a breeze out of the glass: strawberry jam, raspberry ganache and a dash of dark kirsch notes. Deeper, darker than the 04, with tar pastilles, liquorice, butterscotch, spice and minerals. On the palate we notice lower acids than the 04, instead this is a deeper, plusher taste with cherry liqueur, tarry notes and a minimal bitterness on the finish. In the moment of swallowing we hit a turbo button. It immediately kicks in, with a narcotic power. This rocket launch is truly impressive and the sensation of the aftertaste is best described as deep, fat and very, very long. The incredibly pure, concentrated strawberry and raspberry aromas really shine at a slightly lower temperature. This remarkable wine has a great future. Tonight it shows best as we finish the grilled lambchops and later on, with the cheeses. (4042 views)
Tasted by tonygoldstone on 2/1/2008 & rated 99 points: Shoshana's Birthday Wines!: 25 quid from Les Caves. Cork. 4 hour decant. Riedel Syrah. Deep ruby. Wow. Amazing nose of black fruits, plum, earth with great floral undertones. A massive and complex palate of black fruits, liqueur, coffee with great minerality. Its the best single varietal grenache I have ever tasted, and I can see what you-know-who sees in this wine. Amazing finish. Wow. (4183 views)
Tasted by campingfleurie on 12/25/2007 & rated 85 points: I'm posting v retrospectively to provide an alternative perspective on this wine.

Xmas meal. Big points from RP, but simply shows why Chateauneuf was originally famous for being a blend. Relatively translucent. Moderately pure, pruney-plum to candied-cherry flavour; with broad, plain tannin in finish. No texture, backbone or further or pleasant flavours. Compared abysmally to a same-vintage Gevrey-Chambertin which had multiple levels of flavour. Family raved about the Gevrey and politely stayed quiet about this base, boring creature. I checked the remains the next morning and it was just as one dimensional. 84 to 85; 85, generously. (2105 views)
Tasted by Pacherant on 12/21/2007 & rated 96 points: A ready lovely heady wine. Powerful rich fruit flavours and while rich, the alcohol is not overly hot. This will get better over the next few years. (4110 views)
