  • No decant. Wine immediately has intense aromas with a measure of mature wine. Quite a bit of sediment (not a criticism, I like it.) Wine is seamless, balanced, and has a long finish. I do not recommend to decant. The wine starts to degrade after about an hour so it's time to drink up and enjoy - this will only decline from here IMHO.

  • Have not always had good luck with aged Lesec CDP's, but this one was wide open for business and a good reminder of how wonderful aged Rhone can be. Aerate to decanter, no sediment at all, let sit 45 min. Very dark in the glass with ruddy magenta at the rim, medium-full body. Expressive complex aromas of fig sauce, Sun Maid raisins, hoisin, Kirsch, and licorice along with developed leathery notes. Big sun-ripe and rich black fruits mixed with black olive and licorice on the attack, joined by flavors of garrigue and leather extending into a lengthy finish. Really tasty. Some tannins resolved to velvety texture, and others still somewhat chewy. This is drinking perfectly right now, and paired extremely well with marinated grilled pork tenderloin and roasted sweet potato mash. Best of the night compared to an '07 Grand Veneur Les Origines and a '10 Grand Veneur Vielles Vignes. Excellent value at 40.

  • Brought to a Chateauneuf tasting. The group has learned to know our cellar, so I went shopping. At the PLCB, wanted something 2010 or older, 92 or better on CT pro reviews. I actually found 17 in the Pittsburgh area, quite surprising.

This got opened third, after a 2006 Rayas, and a 1998 Beaucastel. I initially thought that was an unfortunate place to be, but this held its own. It was the more modernist of the two I bought for the tasting (the other a Le Vieux Donjon), and most found it quite pleasing. There was a hint of effervescence on the tip of the tongue, leading to a playful impression. Dark purple/garnet in color. Nice complexity. This would be worth getting a few more bottles.

  • Un C9P en finesse avec une belle trame olfactive. (Romarin, garrigue, réglisse). En bouche, le tout est fin. Il manque un peu de chair cependant considérant mes attentes.

  • Everyone liked this. It was not giving up much on the nose. Nice red fruit, some cocoa and anise on the palate.
