Friday Night Double Blind Semi-Mondo $80+ (Bin 75): Dull dark core with dull red ruby edge; funk galore, smoked meat, plum, dark berry, pepper, black olive, leather; good fruit, less green than I expected, almost black currant, ripe with good acid, still some ashy tannin, tart berry deep, rich, Burgundian but clearly Rhone, gamey; good but a bit heavy; did not scream its nobility.

Extreme value. Bought in mag. Lighter year in Northern Rhone, but very balanced with beautiful barnyard stink melding into traditional Cote-Rotie spice and dark fruit. Every element is there. Buy some if you can find em at the prices going around.

Nice at first, but 2 hours into the bottle it became a bit vegetal. Drink it up quickly.
