Last tried this six years ago, and looking at my old notes, the wine appears to have evolved. Many of the common traits of a classic Cote Rotie are in this wine, and that is a good thing. Nose much more subtle with typical pencil shavings. Overall a nice example of Cote Rotie at a reasonable price.

Wild, spicy nose of blueberry pie, sandstone, truffles, and Santa Fe incense. Lighter in body, but heavy in flavor. Bursting blueberries and passion fruit. Leather. Santa Fe incense/night air that creates enchanting imagery. Fully alive. Magical.

This was more fruit driven than terroir driven, unlike most Cote Rotie. However, this was probably due to its youth. If I had to give it a score now, it would be 91, but I will defer to a later tasting a few years down the road. I think this could score mid 90s. Oddly enough, this reminded me of Cayuse with the nutty tones.

this is just excellent stuff, fruit, tar all the proper stuffing. I know it will get better over the next few years. Yet I have some doubts that I will be able to keep my hands off the remaining bottles
