Clear moderate color. No age on rim. Nose is Gevrey, with a bit of barnyard or forest. Taste is sharp elbowed at open for its age. Not enough fruit to balance the tannins. Don't know that I expect it to grow fruit now but will hold the other bottle to see if the tannins tame.
Had a Navarro Methode Ancienne 2012 side by side that won to every palate.
Stellar wine in the making, still quite young. The nose is beautiful and classic Gevrey with beautiful red and blue fruits, savory/meaty notes, hints of lilac, and lots of spice with a touch of oak. The palate is quite young at this point with still very tight tannins and acidity keeping things fairly coiled up at this point. It performs better with air and food, but is still clearly young. I would probably recommend another 2-4 years minimum in the cellar for this and it should still be delicious with 8-10 years.
WineBerserkers Burgundy Dinner (Garcon, San Francisco): Aromatic nose, high toned red fruit, slight acetone and slight excess alcohol, slight slice, slight red fruit; palate is youthful, red fruit, youthful tannin; medium finish. Very young and this needs time to settle down. 88
Had this side by side with 2 pinots from CA and 1 from Beaune, and this blew them all away. Medium cherry in color. Minerals and leather on the nose. Delicious crunchy cherry fruit on the palate with nuances of smoke, cedar, minerals and earth. No tannin and drinking beautifully. Should last for quite a while. I really enjoyed this bottle.
