Popped and poured. This is a translucent ruby wine. On the nose, I get cherries (no surprise there), autumn leaves, wet soil, spice, and rosehips. In the mouth, this is still wound pretty tight; today it shows some structured cranberry aspects. The finish is poised, with crisp and sappy aspects bringing things home. Overall, this is a wine with evident potential – it was enjoyable today, but I think the best is yet to come (I suppose that’s not a huge surprise for a 2005 Burg GC). 92 points.

Very classic burgundy nose, quite intense with cherries and some oak. Tannins are integrated nicely and I think the wine is in great balance and is very enjoyable today.

Popped into decanter and poured into glass with no time to breathe. Drinking well now, open fruits with a burgundy elegance. Nice but not what I'd call excellent

Earthy, dark fruit, intense aroma. Rich, dusty and a bit oak. This wine has a good potential and quite backward, it can't open up the whole night and I think it will require some more paitent perhaps revisit 5 years later.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chicago, IL): Tasted double blind. Black cherry with lots of elegant tannins, softening nicely. Good density with good balance. Upside from here, but enjoyable now.
