I enjoyed aspects of this for sure, but in terms of actual Champagne this is probably my least favorite so far. There was some pretty strawberry/cream character, but also a yeasty thing that was showing weirdly, a sort of angular mushroom/cheesy tone that didn't work super well (I've found something similar in lots of champagne that *was* good- here it felt off.) Good mousse and some good acidity, but again the ripeness didn't play well with the rest of the components. A little strange; we only shared a half bottle of this and we had a good time but wouldn't have wanted more. Enjoyed the regular brut black label much more.

2015 base, 5/21 disgorgement. Pale pink/orange color. Mineral nose with touch of tart strawberries, chalk, slight oxidative notes and touch of citrus. Palate is fresh, dry but not bone-dry, and somewhat full-bodied, medium+ acidity with some smoky matchstick, tart cherry, lemon zest, whiff of peanuts, and some slightly underripe red fruits. Finish is salty and fresh. Decent stuff but not sure if it's that exciting.

Attractive coral robe. Pinpoint perlage, luxurious mousse.
Brioche, citron, wild strawberry nose.
Brilliant, bright acids. Red raspberry, red delicious apple skin and flesh, lime notes. Lingering finish. A beautiful wine. More, please.

Chicago Gourmet Grand Cru (Harris Theater - Chicago IL): Walk around tasting. Very berry with good richness to start, softer middle forward. Fun and easy to enjoy.
