  • Light gold core. Fresh pear and green apple on the nose upon opening, quickly shifting toward white peach before reverting back to pear. Quite fragrant and primary at room temp. Off-dry, with bracing acidity. Light-bodied and delicate, with the palate largely mirroring the nose (peach, pear, apple, and even some raspberry). Consistent in many ways with my last note in terms of overall balance and moutfeel, though I must admit I find this bottle more complex, intense and compelling.

  • Light gold core. Peach pit, citrus, and Granny Smith on the nose. Off-dry, with high (but balanced) acidity. Compared to the exuberance of Weil, this is subtle and precise: peach, green apple, with a lingering, floral note on the finish. Very nicely balanced. Medium length. Lovely, but not a blockbuster.

  • Nose dominated by steel and lime. Taste very raisiny with a lot of offsetting grapefruit. Fair amount of acidity. Lacking in depth compared to other Egon Muellers I have had. 86.
Follow up: had more next day after argonning the bottle. Was a little uncharitable first time around. More honey, less grapefruit. The very raisiny expression seems to have resolved itself. Still not particularly deep but more enjoyable. Was 86, up to 88 for a sense of the improvement.

  • This was an auction bottling. My third and last bottle, and just like the rest, this had refermented in the bottle and showed quite a bit of spritz. However, this bottle did not show any off flavors, just a lot of effervescence. Tropical, rich and honeyed, balanced with baked apples and pears. Vibrant acidity and a nice mineral finish. Not what it should be, but judged on the pleasure it provided.

  • The cork on this was popping out about a half inch. Much more evolved than the last bottle I had. Dark yellow color, with flavors of overripe apples, pears, hay and brown sugar. Very spritzy and yet a bit flat on the palate. This took on a malty and almost "beer-like" quality. Obviously refermenting in the bottle. Odd tasting and thus not rated.
