  • Tertiary aromatics of soy, truffle, decaying leaf, cold tea and caramel. It has blocks of sweet, vinous flavour in the mouth and there’s a nice earthiness and plenty of pine needle sap. There’s touch of astringency to the finish and whilst it’s no world beater it drinks well and improves markedly in the glass as it takes on more air.

  • Very appropriate color, hinting at maturity but still lively. This still shows plenty of fruit, tea leaf, and nuanced secondary notes, plus very nice structure in perfect balance. Certainly fully mature and not going to get better, but this was a lovely surprise and roundly praised by all.
