With a potential move looming on the horizon, I decided to get to a few older bottles. Golden color, not trying to hide its age in any way. On the nose a bit of citrus, but petrol really dominates. On the palate, the fruit has certainly faded but what remains is fantastic. The acidity is still prevalent with some earthy notes, particularly chalk. The finish, however, is what sets this apart. Hints of lemon linger as does that chalky acidity, for at least a couple minutes. At first I did not know what to think, but I eventually realized this is a remarkable wine. thedrunkencyclist.com

First bottle corked. This one still a hint but not enough to disguise a rather ordinary wine with a pleasant chenin nose but rather sharp unbalanced acidity swamping the fading fruit

Was a little worried this was getting past its prime, so I popped one. No detailed note, but the wine is doing fine. I was very pleasantly surprised. One more to go.

(Chateau d'Epire Savennieres "Cuvee Speciale") Great nose of minerals, flint, salt, almonds, fresh cut grass, and honey. Very aromatic. Thick and voluminous on the palate with beautiful balance and great concentration. Acidity really kicks in on the finish but the flavors of pear, wet stones, salt and lime. The finish is really amazing for a wine of this pricepoint and seems like it can age for at least 10 years. Fantastic in a rustic, overachieving, charming kind of way.
