Dark burgundy in color. Tar and petrol nose, with soft mild menthol hints. Despite distracting nose ,does have a solid black currant backbone , but little other fruit to expand on. Finishes with mild earthy notes of moss and leather, and flickering hints of black cherry.
Found a couple of bottles hiding in my cellar. Bought a case of this wine when it came out for a quaffer wiht beef. Early bottles were somewhat awkward, tannic, muted flavors, short finish. This bottle shows that the wait was worth it...Nice full luscious mouth feel with a nose and taste of cassis, mint and some vegetable, vanilla tones. Thanks Phelps for another affordable taste.
