- Ruby color with slow forming legs. It's balanced with a full body. Coarse texture with a long finish - Definitely one of my favorite California Cabs. Lots of wonderful oak. Berries galore and a beautiful round finish.
Very nice nose of dark fruits, currant, spice and oak. Tannins are nicely integrated with a smooth, long finish. Drinking perfectly right now. Silver Oak to me is always so consistent. Doesn't matter the year.
Open That Bottle Night 2015 (Duluth, GA): Resolving crimson color; nose still shows lots of vanilla and dill from the American oak, red currant, stewed fruit; palate is resolving with soft tannin but slightly absent mid for a wine of this price.
This is drinking well tonight with an hour or so of air and is a really good example of a higher end Cali cab. If this style is to your liking, then you'll appreciate the big, oaky, forward cassis flavors with all the requisite tobacco, spice and leather. The tannins on the long finish are still rather firm and chalky. While this is drinking well tonight, I'd say that there's no hurry on this one, as it still has quite a youthful mouthfeel.
