  • This continues its strong run. The case is almost gone and the wine is in a perfect spot. Saturated ruby color. Classic nose of blackberries, earth, pepper and meat. Mature, sweet fruit with good weight and a balanced finish with enough acid to make it very versatile. Great value that would do well in a blind tasting of much more expensive Northern Rhône’s. Delicious. (93)

  • Now this is classic N. Rhone. The color is deep - like most 2005’s - and all in the dark red family. Unlike the Saint Cosme, there is an outpouring of traditional aromas here: juicy blackberries; leather; game; raw beef; smoked joints and Szechwan peppercorns. Oh my! The palate has integrated over the past year revealing a wine with texture, saturation and a sweet, long finish. This is buttressed by strong acidity and still evident tannin. I like this more and more with every sip and am impressed with the robust yet balanced personality. Can’t see it getting better but for those with bottles there is no hurry. Boxes well above its weight class and is epic QPR. (93)

  • I’m a little over half way through a case of this and it’s only getting better. Earth, black fruits and spice mingle on the silky textured palate. Super Syrah. At peak and should remain there for a few years. Delicious. (92)

  • Has that beautiful, deep-garnet color of the 2005 harvest. Nose is pure Northern Rhone: blackberry fruit; fennel; mushroom and earth. Rugged, old school style still with plenty of tannin. In a very good place right now. (92)

  • What a contrast to the fuller, more voluptuous Guigal tasted earlier this week. Lovely blackberry fruit mixed with mushrooms, spice and pepper. Medium bodied and complete. Classic in the best sense. Drinking beautifully today. (91)
