Purchased from an Acker auction in Oct 2018, this bottle showed signs of poor storage. Color looked oxidized with an orange-brown tint. Taste was okay but lacked the vibrant fruit typical of a Rayas. Nose of leather, mushroom, dried cranberries. Drank like a 50-yr old wine. Bummer.

Chuck must have had a bad bottle, as I know he is quite familiar with these wines and would trust his note, our bottle last night had no VA or any flaws that I could find. Instead, drinking beautifully, silky, lithe just like good Pignan should. I only had one, got to drink it with some cool friends last night so farewell to this 99 and oh so good.

This was initially close but with about an hour of air this started to strut its stuff. This showed well but tonight was outshone by the 2007 pignan.

PB 50 Rayas Extravarganza (PB's house, Charlottenlund): More local feel here. Sweet, fine, lovely, mature – a bit broad. Loses out to the 2001. à point.

Brownish notes. Leather, tobacco nose. menthol+leather mouth. 20 Minutes length. Outstanding but drink up now on a Ribeye. Gets Jammy when warm
