  • Bottle showed light seepage signs; ullage was to base of the neck. The cork was not fully saturated though and was fairly clean at the top. Color was bricking and it had a very light viscosity. Nose of autumn leaves but with an ethereal punch of perfume and tobacco. On the palate I got sour cherry and candied cherry up front with maybe a little bacon on the back. Creamy smooth texture on the front with some mild tannins left at the end. The primary impression was tartness. Surprisingly not complex or particularly long. Leaves a nice silky feel on your front teeth. Entirely drinkable, despite not being stored well.

  • Found in a supermarket in France and drank shortly after. The wine was completely mature. Has it been stored too warm for many years? And although the wine is on the edge of going down there is good oak and some complexity. On the other hand, Beychevelle usually makes a better wine.
