Beautiful medium blood orange color On the nose, strawberries, sumo citrus, orange blossom and magnolia, hint of honey, along with amazing chalkiness, perhaps a bit nutmeg Tension upon entering the palate, more on sumo citrus, then strawberries, orange peel finish Perfect med++ chalkiness and acidity Would say med++ finish also
Remembering driving past when visiting Selosse :) hope to visit next time!
Terroirs: Avize - Ambonnay Blending: 2019-2020 Dosage: brut - 8.3 g/L <- would not have guessed, good balance!! Cépages: 90% Chardonnay 10% Pinot noir <- knew this going in but still didn’t expect the color Disgorging: December 2022

very lovely pale rose colour. fresh peach, pear, raspberry and floral notes on the nose. fresh fruit on entry leads to a midpalate with flavours of cherry, blood orange, and raspberry and subtle yeasty notes held in high tension by the very bright acidity. good length with some floral and chalky notes.
very lovely champagne that is both visceral and cerebral and equally satisfying both ways. i would lay this down for a year or more… has upside potential.
12.5% AbV; 5g/L dosage; 90% Chardonnay from Avize/ 10% Pinot Noir (purchased from Verzenay, as Bonville grows only CH); base wines from the 2020 and 2021 vintages.

Interesting this can be up to 96% Chardonnay. They trade Chardonnay fruit for Pinot to make this. Franck Bonville only grows Chardonnay. 5 grams dosage.
It has excellent mousse and racy acidity. Better depth than the two previous cuvées.
Strawberries, cherries, very light black raspberries, touch of orange citrus, pink grapefruit, their is a tanginess here, nice soft chalkiness & volcanics, saline, sea fossils, white spice, yeast, baguette crust, cheesecake, pink flowers/roses, excellent acidity, nicely balanced with good tension and a nicely polished finish that last a minute.
This is the youngest in the mix and most of the base wine is from 2021…a year filled with weather issues from start to finish. Don’t think you’ll see many producers make a vintage cuvée.
@K&L Rosé tasting in advance of V-day.

July 2018 disgorgement, 90% Avize Chardonnay, 10% Ambonnay Pinot Noir, 6.67 g/L dosage. A delicious rose, showing juicy strawberries and limes over a grippy base of chalk. I liked this better than the white Brut Prestige.

Lovely rosé, with excellent acid backbone. Very enjoyable, meted out over four nights.
