This wine just is not aging gracefully. I liked it a lot in its youth, but it is now dominated with oak and spice. Clumsy, heavy and without nuance. Stains (in a bad way) the palate without capturing any interest. Monolithic. I fear that many of the “modern” Bordeaux properties without great terrior who have turned to this style will end up like this - which is a shame. While I applaud the efforts of many estates to make higher quality wine, I wish they wouldn’t always use the new oak, micro-ox recipe. (80)

Deep garnet, almost opaque. The nose has round black fruits – seemless and strong. Medium bodied with good verve. The wine is a bit under ripe but very good for the money – a solid everyday Bordeaux that is drinking well now. (86)

(no formal note) From a bottle with leakage and high shoulder fill – not expecting much. Turns out the wine was in much better shape than I imagined, maybe not up to the level of previous bottles, but very good. Deep brick and a wonderful nose of cassis, grape skin, wet stones and minerals. Definitely into the secondary aroma stage. Medium bodied with a wonderful vibrancy that pairs well with food. Not a blockbuster, nor a heavyweight, this is just a super meal red that cost just over $10. I think wines like this are frequently overlooked. (14.5)

Nice polished Bordeaux, straddling the international/French stylistic border. Light to medium bodied.
