Fruit still dominates, this down under Rhone ranger still delivers a great qpr, it wouldn't surprise me if it had another 5 years, shame i won't have any left by then. buy 'em if you see 'em

quick decant, drank w/i 2hr w/ Shepherd's pie; thick, almost black in color, dark fruits, nice with the meal, in it's prime, great QPR, thank you Costco

Upon opening, big and jammy, borderline sweet. Really needs at least an hour to open then becomes more focused and balanced. Nose has balsamic and really nice manhattan style cherries. Palate is rich and smooth, with even a touch of savory tomato (in a good, balancing way. Drank without food but the acid is pleasant and complement rich dishes like a coq au vin, meaty red sauce, or toasted bread with oil. Luscious, silky wine straightforward but polished.

Hour and a half decant, this is very fruit forward and juicy, with not a lot of complexity to speak of and enough structure to keep it away from feeling flabby. Pair this with food, without it is an 88, with it is an 89.

6/29/2023 - Jeff Gray Likes this wine:
caramel, leather aroma; red fruit followed by acid, medium mouthfeel, slight linger of tannins in back
