Lesser Italian White Varietals (Duchman Family Winery Driftwood, Texas): Most tasters were under-impressed with this wine, thought it past its prime, maybe tasting like an aged New Zealand sauvignon blanc. “Must taste quickly,” leaves the palate, low and “confusing” acidity were some comments. But a few others enjoyed the wine, and noted confit lemon, passion fruit, stewed apricots. apple, and pear flavors, with medium alcohol and some vibrancy.

Popped and poured. This wine exhibited a light straw yellow color with green notes. On the nose, aromas of green apples, peaches and lotus blossoms were prominent with hints of nuttiness. On the palate, green apples and peaches were complemented with floral notes. Supple in mouthfeel with a dry finish, my first exposure to this varietal and I look forward to trying more! HS89
