Deep maroon to purple color. Earthy blackberries, black pepper, smoked meat, dried herbs, dark chocolate, and a bit of vanilla on the very nice nose. Fairly full bodied with ripe tannins and good acidity. Nice spicy, earthy berries on the palate with dark chocolate on the back end. Nice length on the finish but it does thin out a bit. Drinking nicely now and I wouldn't hold too much longer, probably drink up in the next year.
This was the first Syrah that made me take notice. I'm glad to see it is still drinking well. The nose is one to savor. Great dark fruits and an earthy funk that reminds me more of Sonoma Coast than Napa Valley. The taste definitely is Napa. Powerful and thick, with a hint of pepper. I like this wine quite a bit.
