  • This color of this was outrageous dark brown. However the wine was fresh and complex. Mildly sweet, good acidity, and tea notes that others have mentioned. Great stuff.

  • My bottle. Last of the 3 from the WineBid purchase a few years back. I got to this late but was able to cobble together a decent taste - you don't need much. The nose is smoky, nutty with apricots and spice and a bit of tangerine. The palate? .. like an iceberg on fire: spicy, apricot, mandarin, bacon? Delicious, great acid, transcendent. Spicy, orange, apricot and smoke. Perfect balance. This wine is deep, still and centered. Phenomenal. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 6/6, Finish - 6/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5-2/2 = 19-19.5/20.

  • This is outrageous, one of the most thrilling bottles of Eiswein I've ever tasted. Deep orange-amber in colour and incredibly viscous with such an incredible spectrum of flavour. There's a core of ripe citrus and sweeter tropical fruited flavours mingled with honey, candied orange peel, high toned spiciness, more savoury smoky and black tea notes not unlike what I've encountered in some older Madeiras, and so much more. It's incredibly complex and sweet with palate-staining intensity, yet so focused and perfectly balanced with powerful acids that keep this razor sharp, and a finish that needs an hourglass to measure. An amazing experience. Thanks Seth.

  • Extended Anniversary weekend. Dinner at Il Palio. AP #17-92. Orange to amber in color, this wine remains consistent as the essence of lemons and honey as the predominant notes. Also has the flavors of taiglach, Slovenian honey brandy, quince and apricot. Viscous but not at all heavy or tiring. Very clean ( non-botrytis ) Eiswein. Amazing match with the limoncello tiramisu. Will continue to drink very well for decades but I sadly am down to only 1 more 375ml in the cellar so I will not get to try it as it ages out as it is too good to stay away from. 50+14+14+9+9 = 96

  • Brought by me - recent purchase from WineBid (I think). Medium orange - slightly cloudy. Smells cloudy - somewhat of quince, spices, kumquat. Really something on the palate - spicy, citrus: marmalade, mandarin and quince with a little tea leaves. Excellent mouthfeel with acid/sugar balance - potent and lively but not at all heavy. Finish is the same with waves of acid, spice, sweetness and citrus fruit. man, HGS could really make wine. Excellent finish - really bracing acidity. Nose - 4/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5.5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 2/2 = 17/20.
