  • Coravin fun - Corton (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Earth, slightly sour/wild red and black fruits, a little sweet spice, savoury meaty underpin, with some mushroomy notes, slightly brambly. Juicy, medium plus intensity acidity, red and black hued fruit roll around the palate accompanied by some slightly woody and drying tannins, sweet spice, non-intrusive alcohol warmth on the finish, still has time.

  • Well, some '05s are getting ready to drink but not this one. For the first couple hours this is like a glass of powdered concrete. Eventually the ripe berry fruit peeks out but it's still ripe berry fruit stirred with powdered concrete. Needs at least 10 more years, probably more like 15.

  • From Coravin. Earth, slight yeast extract, a little caramel, cream, alcohol warmth, slightly stewed black fruits, spice, very slightly jubey notes on the nose. Fleshy, quite rich with stewed black fruits, travelling hand in hand with floury textured tannins. Long finish with slightly jubey notes joining. Okay.

  • This is a good, although probably not really grand cru quality wine (though it is not priced at grand cru levels). The nose is classic Corton with game, damp earth, sous bois, and dried red berry fruits. There are hints of leather and dried violet also. The palate has nice structure and energy and overall I'd say the nose smells more advanced than the wine. Overall this was very good with braised short ribs. I would definitely buy this again for $45. I don't see a ton of upside to further cellaring based on this bottle, but it should hold here for several more years.

  • Dark ruby purple in color with a nose dominted by dark berries. Palate is still showing mild acidity plus red and black fruit flavors with a tattering of mineral on the nice finish. Overall a very precise wine drinking very well now. Another 2005 showing very well for its price point.
