I really liked the peppery taste, as it added a nuance that is too rare in my view. On the other hand, this wine was very closed down on the nose and did not provide much of an invitation to drink. Additionally, it was pretty like in color and power for a Zin, and yet I found myself thinking the fruit was too sweet. I guess I conclude it had some interesting elements, but they didn't really come together to form a beautiful experience.
Would not wait much longer to consume this vintage. After the initial alcohol burned off, the fruit showed through but not nearly as long as expected. I'd drink it again, but I may not buy it again given other options at a similar price point.
PnP. Medium red, light rim. Dusty, musty nose with significant heat. Stewed fruits, earthy, mushroom, medium length finish. Later, more stewed fruits on the nose, turning sweet and a bit clumsy. Not bad but a disappointment.
