Consumed over ~1 hour. Mandarin orange & canned pear notes, honeyed sweetness with slightly green and bitter hints. Sweet on the palate, without enough acid for balance. May have been better with salty cheeses or something similar to offset the sweetness.
Old World Blind Tasting >$25 (Bin 75): Very green and youthful looking; green grape, hay, leaner nose; sweeter on the palate, mineral, drier finish, almost halbtrocken, was not picking up on any botrytis; ok.
Doesn't pretend to be classic or especially complex, but sure is a balanced and tasty representation of a Loire sticky, not to mention a tremendous value. Muted on the nose, with some notes of herb and grilled pineapple. A bit light on the mid-palate. Plenty of acidity to support appropriate pairings.
